What Actually Drives Web Development Cost
Scope, not page count
Ten pages that share one template cost far less than four pages that each behave differently. What drives the number is how many distinct things have to be designed, built and tested — not how many URLs exist.
Custom design versus a template
Adapting a well-chosen template is the single biggest saving available on a small project. Custom design costs more because it is drawn, reviewed and revised from scratch — worth it when the brand is the product, hard to justify when it is not.
Integrations
Every third-party service — payments, CRM, shipping, accounting — is its own small project: read the documentation, handle the failure cases, test against a sandbox. Two integrations rarely cost twice one; six usually cost more than six times one.
Who edits it afterwards
A site your team updates without a developer needs a content management layer, and that layer has to be built and explained. It adds to the build and pays for itself the first time you avoid a change request.
How fast you need it
Compressing a schedule does not make the work smaller, it makes it parallel — more people, more coordination, more review. That is why expedited delivery carries a premium rather than a discount.
What happens after launch
Hosting, monitoring, security updates and support are ongoing costs, not build costs. They are easy to forget at quote stage and awkward to discover afterwards, so it is worth deciding early whether they are yours or ours.
Typical Ranges By Project Type
A mid-sized project of each shape, on a standard timeline, with no add-ons. Your own answers will move these — that's what the calculator above is for.
| Project type | Typical range | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Website Marketing or brochure site | $2,000 – $3,350 | 5–7 weeks |
| E-commerce store Selling products or services online | $3,200 – $5,650 | 8–12 weeks |
| Web application SaaS, dashboard or internal tool | $5,200 – $10,700 | 11–17 weeks |
| Mobile app iOS, Android or both | $5,550 – $11,100 | 11–17 weeks |
| Something else Tell us the shape and we will size it | $2,400 – $5,250 | 7–11 weeks |

About These Estimates
How accurate is this estimate?
It is a realistic range for a project of the shape you described, based on how projects like it have actually been built. It is not a quote. Five questions cannot capture the details that move a price most — the exact integrations, the state of your existing content, how decisions get approved. Expect the final figure to sit inside this range once those are known, and expect a short call to narrow it considerably.
Why do you show a range instead of one number?
Because a single number would be false precision. Nobody can price software to the dollar from five questions, and quoting one figure that a later conversation contradicts is worse than useless — it costs trust. The range is the honest answer to what you actually told us.
Do I have to give my email to see the price?
No. The estimate appears as soon as you finish the questions. We ask for an email afterwards only if you want the breakdown sent to you, a detailed proposal, or a call — and none of those are required.
Why is a mobile app more expensive than a website?
An app is usually two products, not one: the app itself and a backend for accounts, data and syncing. It also has to pass store review, work offline-ish on a bad connection, and be tested on real devices at several screen sizes and OS versions. Cross-platform frameworks close some of that gap, which is why the estimate drops when you choose one.
What is the difference between an estimate and a quote?
An estimate is our informed expectation given limited information. A quote is a commitment against a defined scope. We move from one to the other by writing down what is actually being built — which is the main thing a first call is for.
Can I get this in PKR instead of USD?
Yes — switch currency on the result screen and it is remembered next time. We work with clients locally and internationally, and the same figure means very different things in each, so both are shown from the same underlying estimate.
What should I have ready before asking for a quote?
A one-paragraph description of what the thing does and who uses it; a list of any systems it must connect to; two or three sites or apps you like and why; who will supply the content; and any fixed date you are working towards. That is enough to turn an estimate into a real proposal.
Is the estimate binding?
No, in either direction. It costs you nothing and commits you to nothing. It exists so you can budget sensibly and decide whether a conversation is worth your time.
Ready To Turn That Into A Real Number?
A 15-minute call is usually enough to narrow the range considerably. No pressure, no obligation.

How it would run
Phases overlap in practice — this is the shape, not a Gantt chart.
This is an estimate based on typical projects of this shape. Final pricing depends on detailed requirements — a 15-minute call usually narrows it considerably, and costs you nothing.
Want this in writing?
We'll email the full breakdown and can put a proper proposal together for this scope. No obligation, and we won't add you to a mailing list.
