A free online file toolkit with 27 browser-based tools for PDFs, images, OCR, audio and video — plus AI image detection, a credit-based pricing model and a REST API, in twelve languages.
Case study
Convertavo is a free online file toolkit: 27 browser-based tools for converting, compressing and extracting from PDFs, images, audio and video, plus text recognition and QR codes. It launched in 2026 and is built and maintained in Pakistan.
A Laravel and Livewire application where every tool shares one upload-and-convert interface, so learning one tool teaches all of them. Conversions are queued rather than run in the request, which keeps the interface responsive and lets heavy jobs finish in the background while the browser polls for the result.
The newest tool answers a question that did not exist a few years ago: was this picture generated? It runs two independent checks — one reads the file's own metadata for the labels that Midjourney, DALL·E, Firefly and Stable Diffusion leave behind, and one runs an open-source classifier over the pixels themselves, so it still works when the metadata has been stripped.
The classifier runs on Convertavo's own server, so the image is never handed to an AI company, and it is deleted on the same one-hour timer as everything else. The report gives a verdict, a confidence level and the evidence behind it — and says so plainly when the honest answer is that it cannot tell.
Every upload is deleted an hour after processing. The deletion runs on a timer rather than on request, so there is no "delete my file" button to hunt for and nothing to remember. Files are never read by a person and never used to train anything, and every transfer runs over HTTPS.
Rather than locking tools behind a plan, Convertavo prices the work each tool actually does. Compressing an image costs one credit, a PDF-to-Word conversion five, a video twenty. Visitors get a daily allowance with no account at all, a free account raises it, and paid plans — from a few dollars a month up to a one-off lifetime pack — add credits, larger files and priority processing. Every tool, including the newest, works on the free tier, and the file a free user downloads is byte-for-byte the file a paying customer gets.
The same 27 tools are available to developers over a versioned JSON API: one bearer key in a header, one upload, and a status URL to poll — three calls from file to result, with no SDK to install. Keys are stored only as a hash, conversions run through the same queue as the website, and the API draws on the same credit balance so there is nothing separate to buy.
The interface ships in twelve languages, including right-to-left Urdu and Arabic, and every tool is designed for touch first so converting a file on a phone is not an afterthought. The result is a product that works the same way on a desktop at work and on a phone in a queue.
What we built
PDF, image, OCR, media and QR tools all share the same upload-and-convert flow, so learning one teaches the rest.
Two independent checks — generator metadata, and an open-source classifier reading the pixels — run on our own server, never a third party.
Every upload is removed an hour after processing, automatically, with nothing for the user to remember.
Each tool is priced by the work it does. Every tool works on the free tier, and free output carries no watermark.
One bearer key, one upload and a status URL to poll — the same 27 tools from code, on the same credit balance.
Right-to-left Urdu and Arabic included, with every tool built for touch before desktop.
